HIV/AIDS

About 43% of adults living with HIV/AIDS are women. Dealing with HIV goes far beyond managing the physical aspects of the illness. Finding out that you or a loved one is HIV positive can bring up a range of feelings from denial to anger to despondency that can be overwhelming. Managing these feelings becomes an integral part of treating the illness. What's more, some medications for treating HIV/AIDS can affect the mind and brain. Addressing these issues with the help of medication or psychotherapy or a combination of the two, with a psychiatrist or therapist familiar with them, should be an integral part of treatment for HIV/AIDS.
