Research Support

Core Facilities

Weill Cornell provides an extensive array of shared facilities and services to our faculty.

Research Animal Resource Center (Intranet)

The Research Animal Resource Center a unit of the Center of Comparative Medicine and Pathology (CCMP), is a service department providing staff and facilities to effect the humane care and use of animals used in research and teaching at Weill Cornell Medical College. RARC is staffed by veterinarians specializing in laboratory animal medicine, science and pathology, and veterinary technicians and animal care staff specially trained in laboratory animal care and use.

Center of Comparative Medicine & Pathology

The rapid pace of scientific innovation has driven the development and use of animal models at Weill Cornell Medical College and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, as well as at institutions worldwide. In particular, the development of techniques to manipulate the mouse genome has led to a marked increase in the use and value of mouse models of human disease, especially cancer. Both Weill Cornell and Memorial Sloan-Kettering expect this trend to continue and are making significant investments to meet the expanding need for animal models. A major component of this expansion is the Center of Comparative Medicine and Pathology.

Laboratory of Comparative Pathology (Intranet)

The Laboratory of Comparative Pathology offers diverse services to the biomedical research community including a full service diagnostic laboratory and the Genetically Modified Animal (GMA) Phenotyping Service. In addition, the laboratory supports the Veterinary Services quarantine and sentinel programs.

Office of Health Physics

Health physics is the profession devoted to protecting people and their environment from potential radiation hazards. Medical health physicists work to ensure proper and safe conditions for patients, visitors, and staff by monitoring radiation procedures and exposures and by assuring that the medical facility is in compliance with city, state, and federal radiation safety regulations.

Cornell Ithaca
