Transgenic Mouse

WMC offers Transgenic Mouse Core services jointly with Sloan-Kettering Institute (SKI), and provides investigators access to many of the services offered at SKI's Transgenic Mouse Facility. A WMC transgenic core oversight committee is responsible for periodic review of the services and investigator satisfaction.

Facilities

This Facility produces transgenic and chimeric animals using, respectively, DNA constructs and embryonic stem (ES) cells provided by the investigator. It also cryopreserves embryos from transgenic, gene targeted, and congenic lines.

Detection and quantitation of radioactive decay on storage phosphor screens, fluorescence and chemifluorescence on gels, as well as western, southern and northern blots and arrays.

Services
  • Consultation. Consultation on construct design, experimental strategy, and the establishment, maintenance and screening of transgenic lines is provided.
  • Training. The Facility manager provides training in mouse husbandry and genetics, screening and analysis of transgenic and chimeric mice, ES cell culture, and dissection of pre- and post-implantation embryos.
