Faculty Research Mentors
Last Updated on: 5/2004
The Faculty Research Mentor list was developed as part of a joint initiative
between the Office of Academic Affairs and the Advanced Basic Science (ABS) Subcommittee
of the Medical Education Council co-chaired by Dr. Marcus Reidenberg and Dr. Susanna Cunningham-Rundles.
This research initiative was designed to promote research opportunities for
Weill Medical College of Cornell University students. Its objective is to help
first year medical students interested in research identify potential faculty
research mentors early enough in the year for the student to contact the potential
mentor to arrange for a research experience at the end of the first year. It
is part of a larger evolving plan to provide students with an organized process
to help them take advantage of the many opportunities to undertake research
at Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
This list was first distributed on December 2, 2003 at a reception hosted by
Dr Carol Storey-Johnson at the Griffis Faculty Club for first year medical students,
potential research mentors, Department Chairs and Division Chiefs. This event
was a kick-off for the 2nd Annual Student Research Week. The list
has since been expanded and will continue to be a work in progress.
