The primary aims of our research are: 1) to evaluate natural substances and herbs for chemoprevention of breast, colon, and prostate cancers; 2) to conduct intervention trials using promising nutritional substances on subjects at increased risk for one of these cancers; and 3) to perform statistical risk assessments on subjects at increased risk for one of these cancers.
Our ongoing research projects include:
1. A statistical model for estimating lifetime breast cancer risk for women at increased risk for the disease.
2. Statistical issues in the conduct of a chemopreventive trial involving an endocrine biomarker.
3. A randomized, placebo-controlled intervention trial to investigate the efficacy of indole-3-carbinol in preventing breast cancer using an endocrine intermediate biomarker.
