Dr. Strain has published her findings on the mechanism involved with estrogen, corticoid, and gonadotropin abnormalities and their responses to weight loss in 40 peer reviewed articles, 6 book chapters, 15 reviews and symposium papers, and 57 abstacts and letters to the editor. She has made 86 National and International presentations. Beginning in 2000 she began working with the surgeons, Drs. Michel Gagner, Alfons Pomp, Gregory Dakin and Francisco Rubino. Studies relating to brain changes as evaluated by PET scans were begun with Dr. Monte Buchsbaum, and now with John Gunstad studies on congnitive function are in progress. With Drs. Steven Heymsfield and Dympna Galleger body composition changes after weight loss are being followed. Quality of Life assessments with Dr. Ronette Kolotkin are in press. Recent publications will be found in Suergery for Obesity and Related Disease, Obesity and Obesity Surgery. Regarded as an expert in weight loss and its maintenance she authored the position statement for the American Distetic Association regarding weight management in 2002 and recently revised in 2009.
