Genetically Engineered Mouse (GEM) Database
In an attempt to improve our
services to investigative staff, we are establishing a web-accessible database for all genetically
engineered mice maintained at MSKCC, WMC and RU. The purposes of the database are the following:
- Assist investigators in identifying sources of
genetically engineered mouse strains they might be interested in obtaining, which are already present on
the 3 campuses. This will deter duplicate on-site production and/or importation from outside institutions.
- Document phenotypic abnormalities. This will
aid the animal husbandry, veterinary technical, and clinical veterinary staff in monitoring the overall health
and well being of the animals on a day-to-day basis. Furthermore, it will be a resource to investigators searching
for mouse models exhibiting phenotypes similar to their own mice.
We hope that you see the benefits
that such a database would bring to you.
We request that you fill out the PDF form on this page,
for EACH strain of genetically engineered mice already
characterized and used in your laboratory. Please fax completed form(s) to 212-746-8847 or mail to RARC,
1300 York Ave., Box 40 at your earliest convenience. We appreciate your attention to this matter. You will
be notified when the database is up and running.
