Biomedical Imaging Core Facility

PART I: GENERAL INFORMATION

Introduction
The Biomedical Imaging Core Facility is located in the Citigroup Biomedical Imaging Center at 516 east 72nd Street and consists of state-of-the-art research and diagnostic imaging technologies. Major equipment includes a 3 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging, functional imaging, and spectroscopy system, a combined positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) system, as well as radiochemistry laboratories for ligand synthesis and a medical cyclotron facility for production of radiotracers.

The Core's imaging facilities are designed to support research scientists from the Tri-Institutional area and other institutions. The building design facilitates the complementary use of MRI and PET and CT studies.

Part III: FEES FOR SERVICE

Fees effective 07/01/03:

MR Studies - $550/hour (Human Subjects)

PET/CT Studies - $960/hour (Human Subjects)

Animal Studies - $150/hour

Please note that these fees do not include cost of contrast agents or radioisotopes.


PART IV: Procedures for Use of the Biomedical Imaging Core Facility 

Initial consultation on the use of the Facility is provided by the Core Director, Dr. Douglas Ballon, at 212-746-5679.

Scheduling
The facility is open Monday-Friday 9 AM-5 PM, except on College designated holidays, and after hours by prior arrangement with Core staff. Scanner time is scheduled through the Center Administrator, Mr. Muc Du, at 212-746-5883.

Billing
Invoices are typically generated at the end of each month and processed through the Citigroup Biomedical Imaging Center.
