Originally from Westfield, New Jersey, Dr. Andrew Robins attended Vassar College as an undergraduate Psychology major. After graduating in 1990, he worked at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in Bethesda, Maryland, before pursuing a doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. His graduate studies specialized in clinical child psychology, culminating in a clinical internship at Children's Hospital at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. His dissertation, which was awarded an Armington Foundation Grant, examined family perceptions of parental support and the role of support in the development of children's empathy. After two additional years of postdoctoral training at the Westchester Division, Dr. Robins was hired as a faculty member in Psychology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, Westchester Division. A clinician, researcher, and teacher/supervisor, Dr. Robins was awarded 'Teacher of the Year' by psychology trainees in 2003. His clinic and private practice work specializes in childhood anxiety, social skills training, ADHD, LD and NVLD, Aspergers disorder, and breakdowns in family functioning.
