Byers, Amy L.
Amy L. Byers received her PhD in epidemiology from Yale University. Her academic research investigated the biological and psychosocial nature of geriatric mental health within the context of familial relations. During her doctoral training, Dr. Byers worked as a junior statistician for Yale?s Program on Aging (POA). Through her work with senior biostatisticians at POA, Dr. Byers gained a fundamental understanding of longitudinal and mixed-effects analyses as well as knowledge of the assessment and analysis of functional decline. In 2004, upon completion of her doctorate, Dr. Byers began working at the Institute of Geriatric Psychiatry at Weill Medical College of Cornell University as a post-doctoral research fellow (NIMH T32) under the mentorship of Drs. Martha Bruce and George Alexopoulos. In 2007, Dr. Byers was awarded an NIMH Mentored Career Development Grant (K01) entitled, "The Complexity of Late Life Depression: Bridging Methods and Clinical Substance."
