Employee Development Center
The Employee Development Center is a comprehensive employee assistance program providing the highest quality of care and consultation to corporate, media, international, legal, financial and non-profit settings.
The Employee Development Center (EDC) contracts with organizations to provide services to employees and those close to them, management development, wellness programming and consultation to human resources and other executives. An employee assistance program must anticipate and meet the needs of the company's and organizations it serves.
Employees and those close to them can use the program for a variety of services including information and referral, crisis intervention, advocacy and consultation for the range of concerns and situations that affect the lives of working people.
The mission of the EDC is to provide services that foster a humane yet business-oriented approach to productivity and to the general well being of employees and the business community.
Services
The Employee Development Center provides the highest quality EAP and related consultation services available.
- Information & Referral: Employees may use the EAP as a resource and starting point for resolving problems or simply locating services for such concerns as child and eldercare planning.
- Counseling: In-person contact with our staff for information, assessment, short-term counseling, crisis intervention and referral is available to employees those close to them for a range of personal and job related problems.
- Management Training: Prepares managers to recognize, work with and refer a troubled employee, addressing issues such as progressive discipline, corrective interviews and using the EAP.
- Consultation: Available on a range of human resources and management issues.
- Wellness Programming: Lunchtime or after work seminars on such topics as stress management, child-care, buying a new home, dual-career families, elder care.
- Policy Development: Development of an EAP policy statement and procedures specifically designed to meet your company's needs.
- Employee Relations & Program Promotion: Assistance with publicizing the program, including the use of posters, brochures, video, the web, and newsletters. Orientation seminars are conducted to introduce employees to the program.
- On Call: 24-hour access to professional EDC staff is made available for crisis intervention.
Results
Employee Assistance Programs convey a progressive philosophy with regard to anticipating and meeting the needs of employees and those close to them. Management training supports these key individuals when confronted with an employee with a performance problem. This training gives them the tools they need to act in a responsible manner. EAP's decrease absenteeism, lateness, accidents at work and turnover. Wellness programming provides important information to participants that will result in their being better prepared to cope with some of life's difficulties, such as an elderly parent in need. Employees and managers will have a sense of being respected as people, fostering loyalty.
