Drs. Bishop, Casalino and Ryan Publish Article in JAMA on Errors in Outpatient Settings
A study by Tara Bishop, MD, MPH, Andrew Ryan, PhD, MA, and Lawrence Casalino, MD, PhD, revealed that that the number of paid malpractice claims for events in the outpatient setting was similar to the number in the inpatient setting. Read more about this and other Department publications

Dr. Lawrence Casalino Leads Study Comparing Costs of Interacting with Health Plans in the U.S. and Canada
Lawrence P. Casalino, MD, PhD, the Livingston Farrand Associate Professor of Public Health and Chief of the Division of Outcomes and Effectiveness Research, led a study published in Health Affairs showing that US physician practices spend nearly four times as much interacting with health plans compared to their Canadian counterparts. Dr. Laith Abu-Raddad Leads Study on HIV in Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)
Laith J. Abu-Raddad, PhD, Director of the Biostatistics and Biomathematics Research Core and Assistant Professor of Public Health at WCMC/Qatar, led a study published in PLoS Medicine on potentially emerging HIV epidemics among MSM in the MENA region. This study was the first to analyze the epidemiology of HIV transmission in this population. More on this and other publications

First Students of Innovative Health IT Program Graduate
The Weill Cornell Health IT Certificate Program graduated its first class on June 24. The program is funded by the federal Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT to prepare students for professional positions in health information management and exchange, health information privacy and security, and programming and software engineering.
