Dr. Gilbert J. Botvin, Chief of the Division of Prevention and Health Behavior and Professor of Public Health and Psychiatry, received a Special Recognition award from the Society for Prevention Research (SPR) at its 16th annual meeting held May 28-30 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in San Francisco. SPR is a multidisciplinary professional organization that seeks to advance science-based prevention programs and policies through empirical research. The international membership of the organization includes scientists, practitioners, advocates, administrators, and policy makers who are concerned with the prevention of social, physical and mental health problems and the promotion of health, safety, and well-being.
