From Dr. Lorraine Gudas and Dr. David Scheinberg
Welcome to the Pharmacology Program of the Weill Graduate School of Medical Sciences of Cornell University! Our faculty carry out research in many different areas, including cancer pharmacology, neuropharmacology, cardiovascular pharmacology, toxicology, clinical pharmacology, proteomics, and translational research. Our students and postdoctoral fellows have outstanding employment opportunities in academia, government, biotech companies, and pharmaceutical companies after they finish their research training here at Cornell. Our program is one of the top Pharmacology Ph.D. programs in the USA in terms of faculty N.I.H. research support. Our graduate program faculty laboratories are located at Weill Cornell or at the Sloan-Kettering Institute.
The Pharmacology program attracts Ph.D. students from throughout the USA and from several other countries. Weill Cornell Medical College is located on the upper east side of Manhattan in the heart of New York City, right next to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Rockefeller University. This setting provides a remarkably diverse faculty and a large number of research seminars and classes at these three institutions, so the research atmosphere is very vibrant and exciting. In addition, there are subsidized apartments for students for all years, and for postdoctoral fellows close to Cornell, and generous stipends for all Pharmacology Ph.D. students. Cornell is located near many excellent restaurants, shops and museums, and Central Park is nearby for tennis, jogging, biking, soccer and rollerblading. For a brief look at all New York City has to offer you can visit the web site http://newyork.citysearch.com/. For more information, and for applications for the Ph.D. program or information about postdoctoral fellowship opportunities, feel free to contact either Lissett Checo, Ryan Weaver, or Olga Rybina-Willis, as well as the Graduate School home page. Please look through this site for additional information and pictures of faculty and students.
