Environmental Compliance Assurance Guide

The United States Army Medical Research and Material Command (USAMRMC) requires adherence to strict safety standards and notifications by all grantees. This page has been created to help assist grantees comply with the USAMRMC safety requirements. Use the forms linked to this page. They have been customized for the College from the documents referenced in your grant approval letter. Weill Cornell Medical College maintains an approved facility-wide safety plan (see Status of Facility Safety Program Reviews and Approvals). Therefore, grantees may disregard the section of the approval letter discussing the preparation of a safety plan.

For an Environmental Compliance Assurance please follow the steps listed below:

  1. Complete a Principal Investigator Safety Program Assurance form electronically in Adobe Acrobat, print the form and sign/date it.
  2. Complete a Certificate of Environmental Compliance document in Word and print the document (note: only yellow highlighted areas need completion).
  3. Review the US Army approved Facility Safety Plan.
  4. Make available a copy of the grant abstract or other document describing the research.

Once the aforementioned documents are prepared, contact EHS. An EHS representative will:

  • review the most recent Research Safety Checklist submission for your laboratory
  • meet with you in the proposed research laboratory to review practices and procedures as well as the approved USAMRMC facility safety plan
  • work with you to make any needed modifications
  • sign the necessary forms

Note: Once the grant is received, an Army Grant Worksheet - Research Safety Program Plan must be completed.
