Chemical Waste Audit Program

Continuing United States Environmental Protection Agency enforcement initiatives focusing on college and university compliance have resulted in millions of dollars in fines.

The Weill Cornell Medical College Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is dedicated to providing environmental compliance assistance to investigators and staff.

EHS has developed a Chemical Waste Audit Program. As part of this program, a Self-Audit Checklist has been created (see forms below).

Each investigator or supervisor should use this form to audit chemical waste practices in their work area. The definitions page should be used as an aid along with the checklist to help detail compliance requirements.

EHS personnel will visit laboratories on at least annually to monitor environmental compliance and stewardship efforts and assist laboratory personnel as needed.

For additional questions or assistance, please review the frequently asked questions page or contact EHS.
