Task List in the Medicine Clerkship

The following lists didactic tasks during the Clerkship, organized by month.
  • In each of the 3 blocks:
    1. Refer to the Core Clinical Experiences list to make sure you are experiencing the core patient encounters.
    2. Enter these on the Electronic Case Log.

  • In the General Medicine Block at NYPH:
    1. Case write-ups
      1. Submit 3 to your tutor – approximately one per week.
      2. Send copy to me, either as e-mail attachment (preferred) or photocopy.
    2. Prepare for Chairman's Rounds with Dr Schafer by selecting a case to present to him

  • In the Cardiology-MICU block
    1. Prepare in advance by reviewing the format for presenting cases in intensive care settings.

    2. Don't forget Clinical Radiology Rounds on Thursdays

  • In about the middle of the clerkship (week 4-9)
    1. Arrange for your DOCS sessions with a resident or attending at NYPH. This provides direct observation of your clinical skills as well as an opportunity for mid-course feedback. Details are on the web site under Observation of Clinical Skills.
    2. The deadline for submitting all three forms is the end of week 9 of the clerkship.

  • At the end of the course
    1. You will receive an e-mail linking you to on-line course evaluation. Please complete the evaluation. We value your input and modify the course according to student feedback.
