Services and Resources

Support cores are essential to providing the infrastructure to conduct research. Our support cores are a multi-institutional collection of service providers to assist researchers throughout the protocol lifecycle, from the creation of interdisciplinary research teams, to protocol design and development, through implementation, compliance, and publication of results.

Our TREST team (see Support for Team Research link at right) greets researchers as they enter the CTSC and guides them through the protocol application process, establishing critical links to other cores that will be needed to conduct the research after protocol approval. Biomedical Informatics provides resources for research data management, links to Weill Cornell clinical systems and data repositories, biomarker discovery resources, and other resources in bioinformatics and computational biology. Our biostatistical group is available to work with researchers from protocol design through publication of results. Our Clinical and Translational Resource Unit offers patient care resources (inpatient and outpatient units for both adult and pediatric patients, scatter nursing) to support clinical studies. Our Bionutrition core provides not only routine meal services to inpatients, but critical bionutrition services for studies that require controlled diets. Laboratory services include two core laboratories (General Core and Molecular Core) housed within the CTSC, as well as an array of specialized "partner" cores across the CTSC institutional partnership. The Technology Transfer Office promotes innovation and facilitates public access to inventions and discoveries resulting from translational research at partnering institutions. The Research Ethics core provides consultation to investigators on ethical issues in the conduct of research.
