The CTSC promotes trans-institutional multi-disciplinary team research for investigators at all levels and with all partner institutions. Its principal objective is to overcome impediments to biomedical innovation by funding novel translational research pilot projects across institutions and disciplines. Built on a legacy of pilot studies, the program creates opportunities for innovation and inter-disciplinary and cross-institutional collaboration with an emphasis on bridging the divisions between basic and clinical scientists within the CTSC. In particular, its priorities are to advance novel research in clinical and translational methodologies, pediatric and medically underserved populations, women’s health, as well as in research led by pre and post-doctoral fellows and junior investigators.
Funding is also available through the Clinical and Translational Education Program (CTEP). CTEP is a well-coordinated and integrated clinical and translational (C/T) research training program utilizing the diverse trans-institutional faculty for teaching and mentoring. The trainees carrying out clinical/translational mentored research have access to an expanded clinical research center, technical and support core facilities, many other state-of-the-art facilities and a large and diverse patient population.
