Welcome

The Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC) provides investigators with state-of-the-art resources for conducting clinical / translational research. This novel center was established through the integration of resources among institutions on York Avenue – The Avenue – and in the immediate area. Within this small geographic area lies a network of renowned institutions dedicated to research, teaching, patient care and community engagement.

Weill Cornell Medical Center (WCMC), the lead institution, is the Center’s academic home through which, technological tools, essential resources and education programs can be efficiently shared and managed. The partner institutions located on York Avenue are : Weill Cornell Medical Center (WCMC), Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Institute (MSKCC) and the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS).

In close proximity to institutions on “The Avenue” and providing essential components for enhancement of diversity and integration within the Center are: the Hunter College School of Nursing (HCSON), The Hunter College Center for the Study of Gene Structure and Function/ Research Center for Minority Institutions (RCMI) and the Cornell University Cooperative Extension in New York City (CUCE-NYC), a unique community engagement program with a network throughout all boroughs. Participating with CUCE-NYC are the Weill Cornell affiliated hospitals, serving a multi-ethnic and multi-racial population.

The cluster of East Side institutions forms a unique biomedical complex fulfilling the NIH roadmap initiative of breaking down institutional and disciplinary silos to accelerate the clinical application of basic science discoveries. Its overarching mission is to advance the nation’s clinical research enterprise by moving translational research seamlessly from bench to bedside and to the community.
