Suzan Toro

Suzan S. Toro is the administrator of the Center for Complementary and Integrative Medicine. She is also the administrator of the Division of General Internal Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Ms. Toro has 16 years of administrative experience in the management of clinical research and education as well as medical practice settings, 10 years in an academic setting.

Ms. Toro participated in the establishment of the Center for Complementary and Integrative Medicine at Weill-Cornell in 2000. As well as the fellowship program in Complementary and Integrative Medicine funded by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) in 2004. She has been integral in the development of the Master of Science program in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Services Research, under the auspices of the Weill Graduate School of Medical Sciences, and the fellowship program in Health Services Research, funded by the Agency for Health Care in Research and Quality (AHRQ) which has been funded since 1994.

Ms. Toro's administrative functions include planning and coordinating departmental activities, program evaluation, development of policies and procedures for various programs and activities, quality assurance, patient services, and public relations activities, as well as development and fund-raising efforts. Ms. Toro's responsibilities include fiscal operations such as budget planning, development, management and reporting with relation to research, education, administrative and clinical activities. She provides financial and operational oversight and management of grant and proposal submission to federal agencies and foundations. In addition, she is responsible for developing and expanding programs and services for scientific research, education and clinical programs.

Ms. Toro directs recruitment, hiring, and training of personnel. She establishes and implements policies, objectives, and procedures for the Center and staff; evaluates personnel and work; develops reports and budgets; and coordinates activities with other managers.

Ms. Toro holds a bachelor of arts degree in business administration and political science.
