Weill Cornell Medical College and Graduate School of Medical Sciences has a superb 10-year record of institution-wide strategic planning and implementation fueled by an outstanding history of leadership and philanthropic support. Since the late 1990’s, the Medical College has successfully raised more than $1 billion in philanthropy in support of its bold vision for growth. As a result, Weill Cornell has experienced a tremendous rebirth and enhanced the quality of and accessibility to superior healthcare services.

 

OUTSTANDING FACULTY

 

Maintaining a strong faculty roster is the lifeblood of any preeminent academic medical center and the hallmark of a truly great institution. The prominent physicians and scientists of the Weill Cornell community do more than teach students and treat patients; they inspire greatness and offer hope through scientific innovation and characterize first-class medicine. Recognizing the critical role the faculty plays in the success of the institution, the Medical College has made faculty recruitment and retention key components of the Discoveries that Make a Difference Campaign.

 

Approximately 100 new physicians and scientists, including researchers, educators, program directors, and clinicians will be recruited to join the Weill Cornell faculty.  These new members of the Medical College team will support the institutional vision for growth and enhancement by leading programs to keep us at the vanguard of academic medicine, developing new teaching modalities to better impart knowledge to the next generation of physicians and scientists, and invigorating the scientific community to new levels of inquiry and discovery.

 

VISIONARY AND DEDICATED LEADERSHIP

Weill Cornell’s rise is most clearly attributable to our most valued circle of leaders, friends and supporters. Our achievements are the collective effort and hard work of our administrative leaders, tireless Board members, institutional partners, dedicated faculty, and generous friends and donors. Together we have designed effective strategic plans, reviewed and articulated our mission, assessed the organization and our environment, and created fund raising and marketing plans to realize our vision. Now we look forward to implementing the goals of our most ambitious campaign to date, Discoveries that Make a Difference. 

 

Particular thanks are extended to our key leaders on the Weill Cornell Campaign Steering Committee, whose leadership and guidance at this critical juncture of our Campaign is most valuable. Under the leadership of Campaign Chairman Robert J. Appel, the Steering Committee members provide strategic direction for the Campaign, assist in the identification of individuals who may be interested in learning more about the Medical College, and demonstrate their own commitment through personal giving. More important, members of the Steering Committee are Weill Cornell ambassadors who help raise awareness of our work among the philanthropic community and generate enthusiasm for our plans. We thank the Steering Committee for their leadership, guidance and counsel!
