Reflections on Campaign Achievements

Dear Friends,

,

Robert J. Appel
Chairman, Discoveries that Make a Difference

Welcome to Milestones, the newsletter designed to share the success stories of Weill Cornell Medical College, and its Discoveries that Make a Difference Capital Campaign. Discoveries is a five-year Campaign that launched in October 2006. Working toward an ambitious goal of $1.3 billion in philanthropy, we have just closed an absolutely stellar first year! In a very short period of time, we have received over $700 million in support – over half of the Campaign’s goal – benefiting the Medical College’s facilities, recruitment and programmatic needs. I hope that our first year is just the first taste of the success that lies ahead for Weill Cornell.

The philanthropic success of the Campaign is inspiring – but not nearly as inspirational as the daily implementation of the Medical College’s three fold mission of education, research and clinical care.  Whether you are a student training in our newly constructed Clinical Skills Center, a patient hoping for the next big research breakthrough or someone receiving cutting-edge medical care – the way the mission of Weill Cornell is delivered is the true hallmark of the Medical College.

The gifts from Weill Cornell’s supporters are a testament of our confidence in the future and the continued success of Weill Cornell. It has been a pleasure to serve as Campaign Chairman over the last 15 months and I look forward to sharing our future success with you!

Sincerely,
Robert J. Appel
