Department Chairs

As an academic health center, we are dedicated to advancing human health and well-being around the world (the word "global" includes the U.S. in its scope). This essential part of our mission is concordant with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which, in 1948, enshrined the right of all people to health care.

Global health has long been a strength of Weill Cornell. Collaborating with local, national, and international partners, we have developed programs in sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, the Americas, Europe, India, and elsewhere. These programs are designed to serve community needs and foster self-sufficiency through education, clinical care, research, and public policy. They include a focus on infectious diseases, which ravage the world's poor, and on the growing burden of chronic diseases.
